About MK Shaffir: MK Stav Shaffir of Israel’s Labor Party is the youngest female member in history. During her first term in Knesset she was a member of the Finance Committee, where she exposed Israel's secret budget and fought to stop corrupt usage of tax payers' money. Formerly a journalist and social activist, Shaffir became one of the leaders of the Israeli social protest movement that brought hundreds of thousands of Israelis into the streets in the summer of 2011. She has been featured in Time, The New York Times and on BBC and her columns have been published in Haaretz and the Jewish Review of Books. Before the 2011 protest movement began, Shaffir worked as an editor for Yedioth Aharonoth’s website and studied for her master’s degree in the Philosophy and History of Science and Ideas Department at Tel Aviv University. She has a BA in Journalism and Sociology from City University London, where she was the recipient of the Olive Tree Program scholarship, a unique initiative for young leaders from Israel and Palestine.
