In the midst of a global pandemic, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu -- cheered on by the Trump administration -- remains committed to a radical plan to unilaterally annex large swaths of territory in the West Bank.
By preventing the creation of a Palestinian state, annexation would institutionalize an undemocratic system in which Israel would rule permanently over a Palestinian people denied self-determination and equal rights. It would imperil Israel's security and put a negotiated peace further out of reach.
With the price this high, America cannot foot the bill for annexation.
That’s why a group of pro-Israel, pro-peace senators has introduced an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act, which prevents US military assistance from being used by Israel to annex the West Bank.
The amendment upholds President Obama’s aid commitment and does not threaten vital security assistance used for Israel’s legitimate defense. Instead, it restricts American taxpayer dollars from being used to advance a policy that would fundamentally harm Israel’s security and US interests.
Tell your senators to support this amendment and ensure that - if Netanyahu moves forward with annexation - American taxpayers aren't footing the bill.
