Prime Minister Netanyahu’s far-right government is not only threatening democratic rights for Israelis, but also trampling the freedoms of Palestinian families in the occupied West Bank.

The Israeli government continues to pursue permanent, undemocratic control of occupied territory through demolitions, settlements and annexation. This year the Israeli government has carried out over 350 demolitions on occupied territory displacing almost 600 people, over half of them children.

School demolitions, including the recent demolition of an elementary school in Jubbet Adh Dhib, are a particularly cruel element of this campaign. Israeli human rights groups are concerned about over 50 other schools at risk of demolition.

We urge your administration to draw a red line against further demolitions and settlements and defend equality, freedom and our shared democratic values:

• Voice opposition to school demolitions;
• Support fair, balanced criticism of Israeli government actions in international fora;
• Use oversight powers to review whether US supplied equipment may have been used to carry out demolitions.
