We write in support of the 88 members of the House and Senate who have called on you to issue sanctions against two of Netanyahu’s most extreme, ultranationalist ministers.

Ministers Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir have used their positions to incite settler violence, shield perpetrators from accountability, ramp up demolitions and force thousands of Palestinians from their homes in the West Bank. Hundreds of Palestinians have been killed this year – including over 100 children.

We commend the actions you’ve taken to sanction extremists in the West Bank – Israeli and Palestinian alike – but if we truly want to deter violence and give force to our commitment to Palestinian rights, we cannot shy away from seeking accountability at the top.

As Commander in Chief, you have a powerful window of opportunity to make a difference. We urge you to use it.
