We write as Jewish Americans compelled by our history and our values to give voice to our growing alarm at the violence, overreach and impunity displayed by ICE.

Congress must act now to rein in ICE. Far from the border, ICE has expanded into an unaccountable, militarized force – raiding neighborhoods, terrorizing families and abusing its power.

Children, veterans and citizens have been detained and harmed, while officials lie to justify violence and evade accountability. No agency should operate above the law.

We demand limits on ICE’s power now: Limits on its funding. Limits on its scope. Limits on its impunity. Limits through oversight, investigations and prosecution.

Silence and delay are choices with dangerous consequences. We must draw a line.
