Tell the Senate: Oppose Annexation

Urge your senators to join an important letter cautioning the Israeli government against West Bank annexation.

The coalition agreement between Prime Minister Netanyahu and rival Benny Gantz could allow Netanyahu to move forward with the annexation of large swaths of the West Bank as early as July 1.

If that happens, it would be a disaster for Israeli democracy and Palestinian rights. By preventing the creation of a Palestinian state, annexation would institutionalize an undemocratic system in which Israel would rule permanently over a Palestinian people denied self-determination or equal rights. Such a system would isolate Israel internationally and imperil the US-Israel relationship.

To prevent annexation, it is vital that the international community -- and particularly Israel's allies in the United States -- speak out loudly and clearly about these consequences and urge the Israeli government to reconsider moving forward with such destructive unilateral steps.

Senators Chris Murphy, Tim Kaine and Chris Van Hollen have penned a letter to Prime Minister Netanyahu and Benny Gantz that does just that, warning annexation "would fray our unique bonds, imperil Israel’s future and place out of reach the prospect of a lasting peace."

Please add your name to ask your senators to sign this important letter.

Your email to your Senators:

Dear senators,

With less than 60 days until a possible unilateral Israeli annexation of West Bank territory, it's critical that pro-Israel senators add their voices to those of Israel's top security experts and American supporters of Israel speaking out against annexation. Please add your name to the letter being circulated by Sens. Chris Murphy, Tim Kaine and Chris Van Hollen, which makes clear that unilateral annexation could harm the US-Israel relationship and have serious ramifications for the future of Israelis and Palestinians alike.

Sincerely,
