The coalition agreement between Prime Minister Netanyahu and rival Benny Gantz could allow Netanyahu to move forward with the annexation of large swaths of the West Bank as early as July 1.
If that happens, it would be a disaster for Israeli democracy and Palestinian rights. By preventing the creation of a Palestinian state, annexation would institutionalize an undemocratic system in which Israel would rule permanently over a Palestinian people denied self-determination or equal rights. It would imperil Israel's security and put a negotiated peace further out of reach.
To prevent annexation, it is vital that the international community -- and particularly Israel's allies in the United States -- speak out loudly and clearly about these risks and urge the Israeli government to reconsider moving forward with such destructive unilateral steps.
Representatives Jan Schakowsky, Ted Deutch, David E. Price and Bradley S. Schneider have penned a letter to Israeli leaders that does just that, warning that annexation would put the goals of "two states for two peoples and a brighter future for the Israeli people and the Palestinian people" in jeopardy. The letter urges Prime Minister Netanyahu, Defense Minister Gantz and Foreign Minister Ashkenazi to reconsider plans to move forward.[1]

Dear Representative,
With mere weeks until a possible unilateral Israeli annexation of West Bank territory, it's critical that members of Congress add their voices to those of Israel's top security experts and allies of the United States and Israel across the globe in speaking out against annexation. Please add your name to the letter being circulated by Reps. Schakowsky, Deutch, Price and Schneider, which makes clear that unilateral annexation would be detrimental to Israeli security, Palestinian aspirations and prospects for a viable, negotiated peace.
Sincerely,
