Recently, in a very controversial move, the Israeli Supreme Court gave the Netanyahu government the green light to demolish the Palestinian village of Khan al-Ahmar. The move would displace 180 Palestinians and clear the way for Israel to expand settlements into the contentious E1 Area, thereby forming a block that would separate East Jerusalem from the rest of the West Bank. That development poses a serious threat to prospects for a two-state solution by making the creation of a contiguous Palestinian state extraordinarily challenging.
Ten senators, 76 representatives and diplomats from the EU have urged PM Netanyahu not to go ahead with this cruel move. As the representatives warned:
“...destruction and displacement of such communities would run counter to shared US and Israeli values, while further undermining long-term Israeli security, Palestinian dignity and the prospects for peacefully achieving two states for two people.”
With legal appeals exhausted, international attention is the best hope we have to save Khan al-Ahmar. Add your name alongside dozens of members of Congress to tell Prime Minister Netanyahu: Cancel the demolition of Khan al-Ahmar.
