We write as Jewish pro-Israel and pro-democracy Americans who are watching a foreign policy disaster unfold in real time. President Trump is on the verge of starting a major war with a country of 90 million people – with no clear objective, no plan for the day after and no support from the American public.

The decision to go to war is profound. It merits a serious national debate. Especially when the American public overwhelmingly opposes another war in the Middle East.

Only Congress has the power to declare war, and under no circumstances should it authorize a foolish and dangerous one with Iran.

We urge you to support the Kaine-Paul-Schumer-Schiff War Powers Resolution in the Senate and the Khanna-Massie War Powers Resolution in the House to prevent President Trump from dragging our country into a disastrous war.
