Since October 2, American student Lara Alqasem has been detained at Ben Gurion Airport in Israel. Despite her arrival in the country with a valid student visa and a spot to pursue a master's degree in human rights at Hebrew University, the government wants to expel her over her political views.
This is the latest in a series of high-profile detentions of critics of the Israeli government amidst a broader crackdown on groups and individuals who've spoken out against the occupation.
Expelling Alqasem would be morally wrong. It would damage Israel's international reputation and further erode the democratic principles on which Israel was founded. Join us in calling on the Israeli government to let her stay.
