Tell Your Representative and Senators:
President Obama's signing statement on the Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act of 2015 should make it clear that recent Congressional attempts to conflate Israel and the occupied territories subvert longstanding, bipartisan US policy on Israeli settlements.
Language referring to, and blurring the line between, "Israel and the territory it controls" has appeared in several recent pieces of legislation related to BDS. Make no mistake -- whatever the stated purpose of the legislation, this language is not pro-Israel. It plays into the hands of rejectionists on the left and right who oppose territorial compromise and wish to see a single state between the river and the sea.
Supporting Israel means supporting a two-state solution. And that means continuing to oppose settlements in Israeli controlled territory which make peace far more difficult to achieve.
