At our national conference in March, Representative Jan Schakowsky warned that there was a battle looming in Congress over President Obama’s nuclear negotiations with Iran, and announced that she was authoring a letter with Rep. Price and Rep. Doggett that urged President Obama to stay the course in pursuing a strong, verifiable nuclear deal with the P5+1 and Iran.
As of Thursday, 150 Members of Congress have co-signed that letter.
We've already seen opponents of diplomacy try to derail the negotiations, from irresponsible letters directed at Iranian leaders to poison pill amendments in the Senate. But thanks to the bold leadership of Representatives Schakowsky, Price and Doggett, we still have a chance to get a good deal through diplomacy.
