Shabbat with Founder of Israel Democracy Institute

WHEN: Friday, February 21 | 7:30pm

WHERE: KAM Isaiah Israel Congregation
1100 E Hyde Park Blvd, Chicago, IL 60615

If you would like to attend the pre-service dinner at 6:30pm, please RSVP separately here.

In March, Israelis will head to the ballot box for their third national election in a year. Israeli elections are famously tumultuous, but this year of political volatility has frustrated and divided Israeli society. Join J Street Chicago for a conversation with Israel Democracy Institute founder Dr. Arye Carmon to make sense of this complicated year in Israeli politics.

Please contact Ariana Rothman at ariana@jstreet.org for any questions you may have leading up to this event.

Dr. Arye Carmon is the founding president of the Israel Democracy Institute (IDI). He helped found the institute in 1991 as an independent think tank dedicated to promoting and strengthening democracy and democratic values in Israel. His 2019 book, Building Democracy on Sand: Israel Without a Constitution, examines the inherent challenges in solidifying Israel's democracy without a written constitution. Dr. Carmon is currently a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Hoover Institution.
