Dear Jonathan --
Senator Ted Cruz just launched a vicious attack against Beto O’Rourke and J Street.
His campaign -- no doubt reeling from a series of polls showing the race within single digits -- posted a release calling J Street an anti-Israel organization and lambasting Beto for the strong support he’s received from hundreds of our members.
With your help, we can make this attack backfire so that the Cruz campaign -- and all the other far-right extremists in Congress -- think twice before attacking our endorsees for their pro-Israel, pro-peace positions.
Ted Cruz has long been one of the most extreme members of Congress on the issues we care about and this attack makes it crystal clear why we need to do all we can do defeat him in November.
It denigrates advocates of a two-state solution, absurdly conflates the grassroots donations of our members with the dark money flooding the Cruz campaign and even seems to attack Beto for visiting the West Bank on a congressional delegation to the region.
But that’s the difference between the candidates we support and far-right members like Cruz.
Leaders like Beto are interested in understanding the nuances of the conflict so they can craft pro-Israel, pro-peace policies that will advance peace and prosperity in the region.
Hacks like Cruz are more interested in crafting pro-Israel slogans they think will advance their political careers.
While our allies in Congress are working to help calm tensions on the Gaza border and increase security for Southern Israelis, what’s Cruz doing? He’s using Israel as a partisan football to score some cheap political points.
Let’s not let him get away with it. Let’s make this dirty attack backfire.
Thanks for standing with us.
Aaron Davis,
J Street National Political Director
