J Street Alarmed by Bomb Threats Targeting JCCs

February 24, 2020

This past weekend, more than 50 Jewish Community Centers (JCCs) around the country received emailed bomb threats. We are highly disturbed and alarmed by these threats, which amount to targeted antisemitic harassment. While authorities thankfully concluded that the threats were not credible, we are deeply concerned about the safety of members of the Jewish community, especially the many people who work at or frequent JCCs and other prominent Jewish institutions in their neighborhoods. As New York’s Governor Cuomo said: “When you threaten a JCC… it’s not just an anti-Semitic attack. You have children who go to the JCC.”

J Street stands in solidarity with the JCCs and with the entire Jewish community against fear, hate and terror. We will continue to do all that we can to combat antisemitism, xenophobia and bigotry in all its forms.
