Stop Rubio and Cotton from subverting US policy on Israeli settlements

Last March, Senators Tom Cotton (AR) and Marco Rubio (FL) were two of 47 Senators who penned a letter to Ayatollah Khamenei undermining President Obama’s nuclear diplomacy with Iran and crippling American leadership on the world stage.

Now they are undermining longstanding US policy against Israeli settlement expansion. Legislation they are advancing would put Congress on record defending Israeli settlement activity (a serious impediment to a two-state solution) -- and blur the line between Israel and the territory it occupies. They call the legislation pro-Israel -- but it is actually pro-settlement and harms prospects for a negotiated peace.

Please tell your Senators to oppose Cotton and Rubio's legislation -- and all efforts to blur the Green Line.

Senators Cotton and Rubio are promoting dangerous legislation that would subvert longstanding US policy on Israeli settlements. Supporting S.Res.346 or S.2474 would put you on record defending Israeli settlement activity -- which every US administration has viewed as illegitimate and is considered by many Israelis and pro-Israel Americans as an obstacle to peace.

These moves are just the latest in a series of legislation that have been introduced that seeks blur the line between Israel and the territory it occupies. Make no mistake -- this legislation is not pro-Israel. It plays into the hands of rejectionists on the left and right who oppose territorial compromise and wish to see a single state between the river and the sea.

I urge you to oppose efforts by Senators Cotton, Rubio and others that subverts US policy on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and imperils prospects for a two-state solution.
