J Street - The political home for pro-Israel, pro-peace Americans

Ivor,

Last night’s program at Temple Emanuel in Denver - In The Image: A Jewish Take On Human Rights - was an enormous success. Over 100 people heard vital and inspirational messages from all the speakers.

JBA in Boston

Rabbi Jill Jacobs of T’Ruah, The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights, implored us as the Jewish People to live up to our valules. We as Zionists don’t have to lose our Jewish values - our souls - by holding on to every little piece of land in Ererz Yisrael.

Sharon Abraham-Weiss, from the Association for Civil Rights in Israel, warned that the Israeli government all too often hides behind security concerns to justify actions which unnecessarily infringe on the civil rights of the Palestinian citizens of Israel.

Rabbi Brian Immerman of Temple Emanuel expressed his concern that the Jewish People must not harbor hate, that we have a collective responsibility not to succumb to fear. Fear, he pointed out, must not compromise our values.

We also honored our late, beloved colleague Hi Margolin, by presenting a gift to his wife Denys.

As we move forward with our advocacy and community work in the coming months, we invite you to join us:

  1. Check out our actions and resources for talking about the Green Line
  2. Help us advocate to Congress to keep Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon through diplomacy
  3. Reach out to us directly at colorado@jstreet.org to get involved

Let’s build on last night’s success. We hope to see you at one of our future events. J Street Colorado welcomes your voice, your input.

L’Shalom,

J Street Colorado Executive Committee
