Robert- While no one knew for sure what the results of the latest round of Iran nuclear talks would be, one things was for certain: opponents of diplomacy would reject it. And that's precisely what happened, with calls in Congress for new unilateral US sanctions or other action that could scuttle the recently extended negotiations to ensure that Iran does not acquire a nuclear weapon. It's astounding what those pushing diplomacy-killing legislation are willing to sacrifice just to appear tough: Limits on Iran's nuclear program that have frozen its progress. Daily inspections of Iran's nuclear facilities. A united international front. The chance to eliminate one of the greatest potential threats to US and Israeli security, without putting America's men and women in uniform further in harm's way. J Street supporters like you helped beat back irresponsible legislation at the outset of these talks. We need your help to do it again. Congress has an appropriate role in this historic diplomatic effort, but it is not to play politics with national security. America's Senators should be supporting, not undercutting our diplomats at the negotiating table. Call Sen. Durbin now. Let him know that we must let our negotiators finish the job.
